A priest named Angelo was surprised to find himself elevated to the highest position of the Roman Catholic Church, that of Pope. He took the name: John the 23rd. He became one of the most loved popes of all time and he did much to help the Church face the challenges of a new day. The burdens of his office were immense, of course, and sometimes he couldn't sleep at night. He once told a visitor that when he couldn't sleep, he would hear a voice telling him, "Ah, Angelo, don't make yourself so important," and with that word he would soon fall asleep.
