The ancient Romans knew how to provide spectacles for the people, in the Coliseum and in the streets. When a military leader came home victorious from battle, he was given high honors in a parade. Thousands would line the avenues to hail the conqueror. On one of those occasions, the General's son was waiting along the street for his father to pass by. When the chariot came near, the little boy darted out into the street. He got by a guard or two, dodging between their legs. One caught him though, lifted him up in his arms and held him high in the air.
