The 1989 television show titled "Quiet Victory" told the story of Charles Wedemeyer, a football coach who lived in California. Though a relatively young man, he was barely able to function because of the debilitating effects of Lou Gehrig's disease. Despite intense suffering Wedemeyer did not give up. He continued coaching with the hope of bringing a state championship to his high school. Before long, however, he lost the use of most of his faculties, including his speech. But his inner life remained intact; he could still think, imagine and dream.
