It may not have occurred to you this morning as you ate your Kellogg's Corn Flakes that you were biting into a segment of religious history somewhat related to the season of Advent. Dr. John H. Kellogg of cereal fame, in Battle Creek, Michigan, became a protégé of Ellen White, a prominent member of the Adventist group which began to flourish in this country in the mid-nineteenth century. Dr. Kellogg, convinced vegetarian, was devoted to making varieties of foods from cereal grains so as to avoid eating animal flesh.
