Commentary
Recent biblical scholarship has placed tremendous emphasis on the ways that the scriptural traditions of both Christian testaments were formed and shaped by the experiences of foreign invasion and exile. What we know as the Old Testament is in many ways, both in its parts and as a whole, a response to the experience of the Babylonian Exile and the attempts of the people of God to re-establish themselves in their homeland.
