My heart was filled with...

My heart was filled with sympathy as I walked up Allan's sidewalk. Over the past six months, Allan had been in the hospital more days than he'd been out. The doctors were frustrated. They couldn't find the cause of his illness. Allan was literally dying in front of their eyes.
The door flew open just as I raised my hand to ring the doorbell. Allan stood in the doorway and he was smiling from ear to ear. "Pastor," he said, "I feel like I'm a free man. The doctors know what's wrong with me and as long as I do what I'm supposed to, I'll stay well."
