Whenever I read this passage...
Whenever I read this passage, I always think of the phrase "true colors." The term refers to the idea that an individual may act a certain way most of the time but under the right circumstances, their true nature will show itself. While this often comes with a negative connotation, in this case, it is actually the opposite. Jesus, in his earthly appearance, didn't look any different than any of us but on the Mount of the Transfiguration, three of his disciples got to see him in all his glory as the Son of God. In that moment, they saw Jesus' "true colors."
